Business Time

This is just funny.

The next thing you know we’re in the bathroom brushing our teeth
That’s all part of it, that’s foreplay.
Foreplay is very important in love making
Then you go sort out the recycling
Which isn’t part of the foreplay, but it’s still very important
That’s not foreplay, but it’s still very important.

16 Months

Posted by parsingtime on November 3, 2011

Happy 16 months!  Not much to report this month.  You continue to expand your vocabulary and now use a mix of words and sign language to make yourself understood. You love to point out things that you know the names of, like cars, birds, dogs, Daddy (in photos).  You understand most commands, pick X up, put X in the trash, put your blocks in the bag, pour tea, drink your cup, put it in your mouth etc.  I think you probably understand a whole lot more than we give your credit for and both Dad and I have started to really watch our language. I also try to annunciate words (which makes me sound like Forrest Gump) so one day you will actually say spoon instead of spoo.  I think we are happy that you still say “for” for fork because it is definitely not going to sound appropriate with the K.

You now announce your bowel movements with a phffff and then after you are done you say poopy.  It is really lovely when you do it when we are out in public and scream poopy at the top of your lungs. Sometimes you whisper it to me like it is a secret.  Kid, the smell emanating from your backside is not a secret to anyone.

You have popped out 5 teeth in the last month. And the Gandhi hunger strike finally seems to be over.  You are now drinking your morning milk out of a sippy cup but your dad and I have to cheer on EACH. AND. EVERY. TINY. LITTLE. SIP.  It is painstaking to clap and cheer that much at 6:30 in the morning. But we do it. For you. I hope you appreciate it.  We are still working on the evening bottle.

The separation anxiety has not improved. You love me. You want me. Your life isn’t complete without me. Yes, I get it. Now can I please go to the bathroom without a freak out? You won’t realize this until you have kids but going to the bathroom without an audience really is a luxury. It’s the little things I miss.

Your favorite books right now are Where is Baby’s Pumpkin, Panda Bear Panda Bear and The Manners book.  I’m wondering if there is an Olympic category for how many board books you can recite in the least amount of time because that is a medal I could win. You love to look at your books and point out the objects you know the names of.

You seem like such a big girl now.  You walk and talk and can eat with utensils. You’re already ahead of the cave people. I can only imagine that at this rate you’ll be way ahead of me and your Dad in a few years. I certainly hope so.

Bill or Beak

Posted by parsingtime on November 1, 2011

There is some discussion amongst Husband’s co-workers on whether N is a chick or a duck.  Some folks are adamant that the mouth is a bill and not a beak.

I think they are missing the point. The point is cute kid in cute costume.  Bills and beaks don’t matter.
