More Annoyed than Amused

Spring

Posted by parsingtime on March 9, 2008

I’m in Texas with my parents…ostensibly I’m here to work but staying at home with my parents is a perk of having a client here.  I love that my mom made me my favorite rice as a “snack” when I got in and that she picked up Clementine’s and the cereal I like because she knows I like them. I also find it highly amusing that the toilet paper in my bathroom was folded into a neat point and had a gold sticker on it…like I am staying at a hotel.

My dad came and picked me up from the airport because that’s what he does. He can’t have me fly in and take a taxi even if the client pays for it.  He also insists I take their newest and best car to work for the week even though I could get a rental.

I don’t actively miss my parents when I’m in Boston but I’m certainly reminded of why they are completely awesome when I am with them.  Also it was 65 degrees when I landed and 65 degrees has never felt so good.

What is not completely awesome is sitting next to a man who chews gum with his mouth open for the entire four hour and twenty-three minute flight. I always get stuck next to the weirdos.

Ski Weekend

Posted by parsingtime on March 9, 2008

We went skiing this weekend…some practice for our trip to Jackson Hole.  Husband and I did alright if you count my running into a tree and almost sliding off a cliff as alright (literally Husband was yelling at me to stop myself because I didn’t see the cliff as I was sliding toward it on my ass). Husband did better than I though he did end up face down with his skis in the air at one point. The phrase I’ve fallen and I can’t get up was never so apt.

The conditions at Killington were not the best…very icy but given that we’ve only skied three times prior to this we did okay.  We left a day early though because it rained pounding icy rain yesterday. Not ideal ski conditions though there were still some hardcore skiers out there.

Anyway, it was a fun weekend despite having to leave early. We hung out with Husband’s section, played some more drinking games (though this time I was a spectator), ate pizza and cookies and had a hand stand contest. Good times.

I’m flying to to Texas for work this week.  I imagine I will be very busy with work, needing to renew my driver license (this trip could not have come at a better time!), and doing a bunch of things with my family.  I’m leaving poor Husband with a messy apartment and a week of frozen pizza but I’m sure he will survive.

Anyway, nothing much else to report other than a certain person (ahem Emilia!) will be turning twenty something or other this week. I’m wishing for a  good birthday week with lots of cake and not too much work for you (and just so you know Emilia – I’m wishing the same for myself ).
